Motivational Interviewing (MHA Westchester)

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical tool that assists people move past points of being stuck in progressing toward their stated goals.  MI is a client/patient-centered and goal-oriented approach. This training enhances the skills of providers who work across a range of settings, such as mental health clinics, primary care settings, substance use services, and residential services.  Attendees will learn the 'MI Spirit', the specific components that comprise MI, and the tool of 'Change Talk' to help clients commit to change. All training participants--including providers with clinical  experience--will benefit from this training.  

Continuing education credits: 12 Continuing Education hours are available for NYS LMSWs and LCSWs. The Mental Health Association of Westchester County SW CPE is recognized by the New York State Education Department’s State Board for Social Work as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed social workers #0097.

Care Coordination Training for Front Line Workers (MidHudson Regional Hospital)

This program provides fundamental knowledge regarding care coordination standards and principles required for healthcare services transformation. Course participants will complete 1 in-person class and 7 online courses. *Students will receive a certificate upon completion. 

Course Delivery 
Part I:  Health Coaching & Care Coordination In person training -1 full day  
Part II: Online webinars and e-courses

Who should attend? 
Personnel from PCPs/primary care teams, behavioral health care teams, community-based providers (including both Medicaid billing and non-Medicaid billing); FQHCs care teams, relevant hospital staff.  Roles:  Including but not limited to personnel who provide care coordination functions in multiple settings and roles across the WMCHealth PPS network; non-licensed care coordinators, care navigators, community health workers, peer support workers, and health educators.

This training is open to WMCHealth PPS partners and staff.  It is a 2-day health literacy awareness train-the-trainer session that will teach participants to be Health Literacy ambassadors & teachers themselves within their organizations. Participants will learn new skills that will assist in decreasing the health literacy-related burden placed on patients and consumers. Care-provider training participants will gain skills that will positively influence patient engagement, patient experience and ultimately, patients' health outcomes. 

  • Participants will gain health literacy skills and cultural and linguistic responsiveness techniques.  
  • Each participant will receive a toolkit with helpful resources and a certificate of completion at the end of the course.
